During the peak of the herring fishing boom, from the late 1800s to 1900s, a staggering 10,0000 boasts were fishing the waters around Scotland. Now, in 2023, just a handful of the boast are left. Dan, Tim of Loft, and Johansta took two years to love baring back this 50ft boast St Vincent. Plant by plank, all done by their own fair hands and, at times, a team of 8 men and women.

Ullapool has become a regular stop-off for me en route to the Hebrides. At first, it would be a cup of tea, then a night and a week. There is a draw to this place I can’t quite explain, but I know it sincerely due to the people, their open doors, their big smiles, and their creativity that draw me back repeatedly. One of my homes away from home.
